Understanding the Scores

Each day is scored 0-100 based on how favorable weather conditions are for pig activity. The score is a weighted average of individual factor scores.

🔬 Research + Your Data: Optimal ranges (what temp/wind/etc. is "good") come from published research on wild pig behavior. Factor weights (how much each factor matters) start from research defaults, then adapt based on your hunt records as you log more data. See Analytics for your current blend ratio.

📊 How Scores Are Calculated

1
Factor Scoring (Research-Based)

Each weather factor is scored 0-100 based on optimal ranges from pig behavior research.

2
Weighted Average (Adaptive)

Factor scores are weighted. Weights start from research, then blend with patterns learned from your hunt data.

3
Rain Penalty

Days with >50% rain chance get a 30% penalty since pigs typically shelter during active precipitation.

🎯 Factor Score Guide

Temperature Best: 45-70°F Score = 100 at 55°F, drops linearly outside optimal range
Wind Speed Best: <3 mph Score = 100 if calm, 50 at 10 mph, drops sharply above
Pressure Trend Best: Rising/Stable Rising = 100, Steady = 90, Falling = 50
Moon Phase Best: New Moon Score = 100 at new moon, ~30 at full moon (darker = better)
Humidity Best: 40-80% Score peaks at 65%, drops outside optimal range

📊 Learning Status

🔬 How the Model Works

1
Data Collection

Each hunt record captures location, date, pigs sighted, and pigs killed. Weather data is automatically enriched from Visual Crossing and Open-Meteo APIs.

2
Correlation Analysis

The model calculates statistical correlations between each weather factor (temperature, wind, pressure, moon phase, etc.) and your success rate (kills/sightings).

3
Weight Assignment

Factors with stronger correlations to success get higher weights. These weights determine how much each factor contributes to the overall hunting score.

4
Scoring & Prediction

When scoring conditions, each factor is rated 0-100 based on optimal ranges. The weighted average produces the overall score used for forecasts.
